This service is designed for professionals who require case-specific input on an NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) matter affecting a client.

It is particularly useful where there is uncertainty about how a CHC decision has been reached, whether the evidence supports the outcome, or whether there are identifiable grounds for challenge.

What the Consultation Can Cover

The consultation can focus on any specific issue and may include:

• A second opinion on a CHC decision
• Discussion of how the CHC criteria apply in the circumstance
• ​Review of Decision Support Tool scoring and rationale
• Advice on whether grounds for appeal exist
• Guidance on interpretation of Decision Support Tool (DST) scores
• Preparation tips for Local Resolution Meetings or Independent Review Panels
• Clarification of the Primary Health Need test
• Advice on the correct application of the “well-managed need” principle
• Strategic input on next steps within the CHC application or appeal process

Where relevant, key documents such as the most recent Checklist or Decision Support Tool document, and/or decision or appeal outcome letter can be uploaded in advance.

 Consultancy Fees

30-minute consultation: £75
60-minute consultation: £120

Consultations are conducted by Dr Ros Setterfield, specialist CHC consultant, via telephone or video call (Microsoft Teams)

Where helpful, brief written follow-up notes may be provided summarising key points discussed during the consultation.
